PC to hdtv needing advice

I am rather new to buying computers i have done plenty of research into things but since I am on a budget i need to skip a monitor and ive seen alot of dated posts about the TVs not having good enough a refresh rate my TV is HD and i would be connecting with a hdmi cable i will be using a rather modern setup with a NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 1GB or better
all i need to know is what are the problems using it as a monitor right form the star

It's perfectly fine to connect a TV to your PC to use as a display.
