The new GTX 460 looks great-the best part is the price. At $220 the 1gb model beats the $280 5850 in most games and handles AA better without dropping the frame rate off a clif.

This is really the first 400 series card that competes with Radeon dominance and hopefully this will lead to some big price drops!

As a side note-WTF is Nvidia going to do with the 465? It performs between the 768mb-1gb skews of the 460 but the number is higher. Maybe discontinued?

If there was any doubt left-it should be gone-
If you overclock the gtx 460 it will blow past the 5850 and rival a 5870 in some games while costing half as much.

This flip-flop in ATi/nVidia leadership is great. It means that despite the global economic downturn, the development hasn't flatlined.

Remember when a upper-middle grade GPU system was $500, and the top was over $1000? I do. Now we are looking at sub-$300 to $600. This is good news!

Heck, I remember buying a 286 and motherboard with 2Mb on-board for over $1000. Things are so much better now!

Could not agree more! This price war is awesome for the consumer or especially for me as a reseller.
Edit: And as a kicker I hear the gts 450 is due by the end of August which would compete with 5770.
