Decided to get a new keyboard for my PC seeing as how my Lycosa's keys are wearing off. (Yes I have to look to type, sue me!) What are some good suggestions? Has to be black and has to be blue backlit and be a reasonable price. I am currently looking at Alienware's TactX keyboard. Maybe another Razer?
Go with the Logitech G510. It's almost completely black and you can change the back light to pretty much any color you want. The build quality and warranty beats out Razer's tenfold.
i second, i have it (change my g11 in 2011 for the g510). My g11 was lightning only blue but the key have never fade and the letters is cut with laser in the key so they don't erase... also my g11 have drink 2-3 cola and beer and have continued to work really well (have this keyboard from 2005-2006 to 2011/08)
In conclusion, the logitech keyboard are really a good buy, great waranty, durability, fonctionnality... the G510 could light the color of your choice and have 54 macro keys (separate in 3 banks of 18 keys) built-in mic and headphone jack with mute button for each. It also feature a "game" button to shut off the windows key. My only complaint is beacause the G510 doesn't have USB port on it and it's not mechanical keys... However, the keys are not really a problem because they respond well and are very durable...
You should also consider the G110 if you don't want the LCD... the rest is pretty much the same except for macro keys (12 vs 18 on the G510)
corsair k90?
that G110 looks fantastic! Nice suggestion. I looked at the corsair k90 as well and I don't like the back lighting on it. It lights up, but it's behind the keys, the keys themselves aren't lit. No thoughts ont the TactX?
i don't know about Razer keyboard, never had one... only had a mamba and a deathadder. the deathadder no more founctionning (about 1.5 years of life) so i bought a mamba and now it's in mail somewhere cause the mice stop working randomly (data transmission problem) and it's under waranty... buy a CM storm sentinel advance 2 for replacement when i wait and really it's a charm !!
All that to say that i probably never buy another razer product cause i have 2 mouses that stops working and a friend of me also had a razer mice (a naga hex) that stop working about 7-8 months after he buy it... My precedent mouse was a microsoft intellimouse and i believe it have like 10 years of service... It's still fonctionning properly in my workshop PC...
The TactX is an Alienware keyboard, not Razer
yeah sorry for that, was checking your lycosa at the same time and my mind was f***** so i start a razer anecdote lol
Dont know about alienware too but i know dell was offering great product so i don't see any trouble, also the keyboard look really sharp... however the anti-ghosting feature is only on WASD key but i don't think it's big deal over the all keyboard anti-ghosting... Also the reviews trends to place this keyboard at 4.5 out of 5 so i think it's a good buy too
yea.... I don't plan on buying any more Razer products. Too expensive for how fast they wear out. Only thing I haven't had a problem with is my mouse, which is the DeathAdder. After that's done, I'm moving on to Logitech probably...
check this out !! http://www.3dgameman.com/q-and-a/425/best-overall-gaming-keyboard Rodney's opinion ;)
i'm just returning from my favorite detailler and i saw the new Roccat Isku... you should take a look at it ;)

WOW! That is quite the impressive keyboard! I think Roccat sat there and thought "Now, how many features can we cram into ONE keyboard?
yeah, had a good impression when i saw this keyboard, i knew that piece of candy will please you !!
I would say though that it has TOO many features. For a hardcore "pro" gamer, that would be perfect, but I am far from a pro lol. Also, converted into USD, its is $98.76. A little more than I wanna spend. Still thinking of that Logitech G110, which is $61.99 on Amazon. That is one pretty keyboard. Reminds me of my old Cyborg keyboard that had 3 colors, unfortunately, the keys started to wear out and became unresponsive. Was fantastic while it worked though...
Microsoft sidewinder x4?

ordered the G110 from Tiger Direct through Amazon. Waited 6 days and it wasn't shipped yet. Emailed Tiger Direct to find it was on back order with no plans for future shipments even though it said "in Stock". Cancelled and ordered directly from Amazon and paid the extra to get it the next day. Got it today and I love it! Will take getting used to because of the extra keys on the left, but still a great keyboard!
yeah my g11 was a little bit tricky to use in the first days but after that you'll never go back to a "standard" keyboard layout !! proof, i bought a g510 after that !!!
little trick for you ;) Make a "windows" profile for your favorite programs ex: itunes WLM, Steam, so you can start all the program (you can select my computer, calc, etc...) you want and for me it's beautifull, no desktop icon no taskbar pinned icon, etc... that's why i have bought THIS keyboard !!
That is so unbelievably cool! I didn't know I could attach shortcuts to the macro keys!
oh yeah and you'll love this function !!!!
definitely, as a matter of fact, I like it so much, I'm actually considering getting a Logitech mouse and selling my Razer.
they make good product except they don't have the style of razer with the led, etc... but much more reliable so a point for logitech again ;)
i wouldnt mind a G510 myself. i have an old sumbeamtech keyboard. keys light up but the letter are starting to erase :(
I am Very Satisfied with my G510
I have roccat isku + roccat kova+ and its just amazing. But if you want headphone and mic and usb port go with g110. Roccat isku is just amazing. So many programable keys that you cant never use them all.
