so i now have a job and i decided if im going to have a good income i will just throw out the idea of updating my current rig and build a completely new one but i want you guys to check over this to make sure what i have is good, reliable, and stable and what could be improved.
i want to keep going the AMD route for now and im not intrested in intel
im also not worried about a budget, i will just extend my savings time.

Processor: AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE (i was debating on getting the x6 1090T but i think the 965 will be better but im still open to suggestions)
Motherboard: ASUS 890FX M4A89TD
PSU: Cooler Master GX-750w (RS750-ACAAE3-US)
Case: Cooler Master HAF X
Processor Cooler: Corsair H50
HDDs: 2x WD Caviar Black 500GB RAID0 + VelociRaptor 300GB + a few of my old harddrives
Optical Disk: Samsung BluRay ROM
RAM: 2x (2 pack Kingston 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1066MHz, Latency 7, 1.5v) for a total of 8GB
Graphics: XFX 5870
Audio: either Creative X-Fi Titanium OR ASUS Xonar DX (both PCIe x1)
+ 4 channel Scythe 5.25" fan controller

With the 965 and the Xonar i would have $1,827
With the 965 and the X-fi i would have $1,877
With the 1090T and the Xonar i would have $1,942
With the 1090T and the X-fi i would have $1,992 all in USD

once again im open to suggestions and help on those two decisions i have

I'd get a stronger power supply, At least 900 watts,(at least 1000 watts if you are overclocking) so that in the future, you can add another 5870. It's always good to leave room for more expansion in the future, than having to buy a new power supply everytime you upgrade.

My Rig|CPU- i7 950@3.08ghz|CPU Cooler- Coolermaster v8|Motherboard- EVGA X58 SLI3|RAM- G.skill Trident 6gb 2000mhz|GPU- XFX HD5870|Case- HAF 932 Black Edition|PSU- Coolermaster Silent Pro 1000W

i actually picked this power supply because i thought it would be 100 percent perfect for what im looking for.
a 5870 pulls under 225w so two of those would be under 450w still, so this power supply will suffice, even for overclocking

I think you've made a great decision; sometimes it's better to get rid of the old rig and have a fresh start!

So my first recommendation is: Get the 955 instead of the 965 (same CPU, clocked lower) I guess you're gonna overclock it so you don't need a 965. You'll save money there. However if you want a 6-core, 1090T is way too expensive in my opinion, a 1055T would do the same job overclocked. If you're never doing rendering or highly threaded tasks, stick with the 955.

Great board, nothing to say there.

I read that this PSU is not that reliable but I think it will do the job.

HAF X :)

H50 that's good too

Ok another recommendation here: Do you already own the Velociraptor and Caviars? If not, get an SSD! OCZ Vertex 2 128GB paired with a 1TB Caviar Black would give you awesome performance (you'd really see it)

A Bluray reader is always good to have

For the RAM consider these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231276&cm_re=g.skill_ripjaws-_-20-231-276-_-Product

No problem with the graphics card.

I'm not an expert with sound cards so I can't help there..

*facepalm*

That system doesnt need even 500W in full load. My system is overclocked (965 4GHz+HD5970) and is taking ~450W in full load so where the fuck you gonna need 1000W power supply?!!? I have Corsair HX850, which can be run, although two of the same kind of systems at same time.

500-700W PSU is more than enough for that system but quality is priority one. If you use some kind of crap like LC-power u gonna need bigger one.

Asus Maximus IV Extreme // Intel 2500K@2600K + NH-D14 // Kingston HyperX 8GB 1600 // Asus GeForce GTX580 SLI // Corsair HX850 // Corsair Graphite 600T // and more... *Enthusiast Overclocker & Gamer*

ok a switch to a 955 is not a big deal so i think i will change that right away and looks like i will not be trying a 6 core.
how many people have said this about the PSU? should i go ahead and look for something else like a corsair 600?
i dont know about an SSD, i was liking the setup i was talking about and i dont really thing i will fork over the cash for such a small storage space on an SSD, i admit it would be faster which is nice but having a TB in raid and a raptor will be what im looking for
ripjaws are only 3 bucks more so i will go for that too

High noise levels overload and can even damage components on your computer.

It's not a bad PSU but for the money I'd rather get this one:

It's modular, is based on a very good Seasonic model and looks awesome :)
