need som advice gaming pc

hey guys. i am building a new gaming pc and i have som troubles choosing graphic card. i have two questions :
a, can i have a amd six core processor and nvidia gf at the same mb?
b, shoud i go ati (5979 ,5870), or nvidia gtx 470 or 480 .

i am interested in gaming power only, and i am using one monitor 22" full hd

Well, if you want a lot of power for not an extreme amount, get a HD 5870. You can get one for les than 400 dollars.

I use it, it's a great card, and maxes any game you want.

only one monitor=GTS 460
We have been over this six core thing many times.....
don't get one for gaming
Get a 955

A) Yeah you can but you can't use SLI
2) A GTX 460 would be good if you're not planning to go multi-gpu in the future but a 5850 would be good if you're planning on CF later.

460 SLI is better than 5850CF
Get a 955+a 460

An X58 board if you can afford it so you won't have to choose between ATI and NVIDIA.

your not forced to choose sides by buying a motherboard, any video card will work with any motherboard as long as its PCIe. all your limited to is crossfire or sli
