this morning i went to turn on my computer only to find out that is wont turn on
i looked at everything and tried everything i could and still nothing
i was wondering if there was any way of knowing if my psu is messed up?
If the system is a few years old you can try replacing the motherboard battery.
if your motherboard has an on-board softlight LED then yes. is your Mobo Battery good? (most likely this is not the cause if the motherboard is newer) if you have a Volt Meter it is as simple as hooking up the leads to ground and power. does the PSU itself have an LED? does the PSU fan kick on? are the power button leads connected good onto the motherboard pins? lol these are just a few questions to ask yourself
i would test the power supply first. jump the green wire to a black wire to start it up or hook up a volt meter to purple and a black. purple is a constant 5v power wire that supplies the motherboard with power while the computer is off
i just got my third power supply form ocz after rma'ing twice and tried to jump start it by connecting it to my hdd's and optical dirve, then inserting a paperclip into the green and black part on the motherboard connection and the power supply fan just twitched
is it supposed to turn on all the way or do i have another bad power supply
also how can i check to see if the motherborad is the problem
