I would love input on this. So, I went to buy myself 2 more monitors for a fancy 3 monitor eyefinity setup, only to find out that the only way I can do this is to get an active DP to DVI cable adapter. Is this true? Are there other ways to setup the 3 monitors without a $100+ adapter? I have a ATi 5850 card.

Thanks

You might not want to have 3 monitors on one 5850. A 5870 or 5970 has the kinda horsepower for that. I would try two and see what fps you get then move forward.

Oh and I have set up 3 monitors using hdmi hdmi and dvi but that was a while ago with 2 graphics cards.....

ya im afraid you need an active adapter (a USB powered adapter)

without it eyefinity will not work

I bit the bullet and ordered the active DP to DVI adaptor with the  USB extension. Also ordered 2 ASUS MS226H 21.5" monitors to go with my LG L222WT. I hope it's worth it. :)

I ended up buying another Asus MS226H monitor because of issues with my LG. The resolutions weren't matching right and I was getting some weird warping. So far I love it, but I've noticed that in some games, the picture looks to be stretching on both the left and right monitor. Is this normal?

There is a cheaper adaptor, its an Active dispplay Port to DVI, here's the link.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815310003&cm_re=active_display_port_to_vga-_-15-310-003-_-Product

it's 25 dollars, and is best used if your monitor is smaller than like 25 inches.
