Well I am working on my "new" labtop and I have this cd/dvd burner:

However it is not fitting inside of my toshiba tecra s2 and I do not know why. Does the tecra use an IDE cd/dvd drive? I thought that I would have no problems installing this drive but I clearly have been proven wrong.
Maybe you are just doing it wrong?

If you can't get it working maybe you should just make things simple and get an external DVD burner.
Samsung USB 2.0 8x DVD Writer External Optical Drive SE-S084B/RSBN (USB Powered. No need for an AC Adapter)

Unfortunately an external cd/dvd is really out of the question because I frequently use dvd's.
As far as putting it in the wrong way thats definetly a no. I believe the problem is the connector-The tecra has a very wide (IDE maybe) connector while my drive connector is very narrow.
I guess I will have to give up on burning dvd's n' leave that to the desktop.
Here is the "wide connector"

This looks like it will fit but I will have to sell my other one.

Probably the difference of IDE and SATA.
Ya thats what I thought intitially but I am so used to desktops and labtop sata/IDE looks different so I was not entirely sure.
