currently I have a 23" flatscreen Hannspree HF237HPB 23" Widescreen LCD HD Monitor - 1080p, 1920x1080.
I'm looking to get a new widescreen because i'm working doing modeling and animations, but I am limited in the money department. So I have $100, and I need some suggestions on monitors. Preferably over 18". I've already searched and found these two:

More always better so hopefully you guys can help me out. Thank you.

The Acer is far away by doing 1080p over 1600*900 for the emachines... also i use a Acer branded monitor on my server (was a bundle with my first PC, an old P4) and still using it today with no trouble at all (no dead pixels, no flickering,etc...)

Gaming PC: MSI Z77A-G45 ::: Intel Core I7 3770k @ 4.83Ghz ::: EVGA GTX680SC Signature ~1300mhz Boost/7122mhz ram ::: 16GB 4*4gb G.Skill 2240mhz CL10 ::: ASUS Xonar DX ::: Crucial M4 128gb (windows) + Intel 330 180gb (Steam games) + 1TB Caviar Black (storage) ::: Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold M1000 ::: Antec P280 ::: Noctua NHU12P SE2 ::: ASUS VE247H ::: Logitech G510 ::: Cooler Master Storm Sentinel II ::: Logitech X530 ::: Steelseries Siberia V-2 Black & gold edition

do you think it would be ok to buy a refurbished monitor?

i'd never buy refurbished items, cause the most of them have 30-90 days warranty over 3 years for the ASUS i use right now on my gaming rig and it's 3 years worry free, cause i go to a ASUS retailler and they exchange the LCD for another one on the same day example: They ship my broken one, i pay the normal shipping fee (only invoice fee, not return cause ASUS pay them) and ASUS allows the retailler to replace it by a new one that they have in stock or they simply repaired it right now at the retailler, for free... Also they insure that replacement components will be availlable for 5 years and offer extended warranty of 1 or 3 years more (4 or 6 years total)

So that's why i never buy a refurbished item, the 50 bucks worth it when you think on the long point...

If you need a monitor right now then buy it, by cons save a little more cash and buy a new one or if you only have 100$ then i think the Acer branded one is the best you can get for this price, for sure !!
