I am looking at a new computer and saw I could get an i5 quad core 2.8 GHz for within $20 of an i5 dual core 3.6 GHz which is faster for gaming and some advanced slideshows and web gaming. Which is faster for this?

If you are actually gaming and not going to be playing flash games all day, get the quad core. But, I'd get the quad core either way, because it is just more powerful than the duo core overall.
