Hello, my name is Banzai, I am a moderate gamer. I spend most of my Sundays playing CSS, BC2, SC2, TF2, Gmod, and APB. My current specs are listed below, I recently got them a few weeks ago. The case is entirely new, I upgraded from a smaller/cheaper case to this Rosewill model in which I enjoy. Anyways, I was wondering if a second 4870 would do me better or if I should go straight to a 5850? I don't feel I would need a 5870 but I would like a decent gaming computer as I am amping my Resolution up with a new 24" monitor at 1920x1080. Thanks, Banzai~

With the kind of game you're playing you don't need to upgrade.. With a resolution of 1920x1080 you don't need dual graphics card configuration even with the newest games.. You're wasting money here..

If you want to upgrade and play the latest DX11 games buy a GTX460 and that's it

Thanks alot, I never was a huge computer gamer, and I played what I could at the best performance over quality. I considered buying a 5770 but benchmarks and sites state that it gives less performance than a 4870. Then I may as well keep this build till next year at least, and then perhaps see if anything new or exciting arrives. I hope to buy a phenomIIx4 as well, not an x6 though as I feel I would have no use for it.
DX11 worth it? I have Windows 7 Ultimate right now and dx10 seems like a nice step from the previous version, but it looks like dx11 just has a slightly better lighting system to me.

DX11 is always better than its predecessor, however do not wait for that long. Get what you can get now. Technologies comes out faster than doing some research at first hand. This will cause you into more option issues during that day when new DX11 cards come out.

I have a 5770 and I play any current game at high settings on a 1080p monitor. Benchmarks are just for comparison but in real life it's not the same thing. In this particular benchmark (3DMark Vantage which is a DX10 benchmark) the difference in performance (P score) is like 185. Are you going to notice this in your everyday gaming? No!

With what I have seen so far, most gamers who are using the 5770 love it.. And, it is DX11 compatible.

But regarding your needs, do you need to upgrade your GPU? As for now I don't think so. I would upgrade the CPU over the GPU.

It all depends on the games you play..

For example I need to run 260GTX 216 SLI when playing Shattered Horizon to hit the high settings. And even then I'm playing without AA and have some options disabled. (1680x1050) But most games are fine if you can coop with lower fps with some titles. Personally I hate fps lower then 60-50

You moved it...back to hardware? Because I clicked on new thread for hardware D:
Anyways, thanks. I may save up still and get a 5850 for later. I want dx11 but better performance then what I already have. Does anyone know if I can run eyefinity with 1x20" widescreen with 2x22" widescreen?

You Can but you don't wanna use all 3 together for 1 image. Need identical screens or image looks bad. Third could be good internet browser or something.
