So while thinking of upgrading my current DVD player, I came up with a question I had a hard time finding real facts to answer.
What is overall better: HD DVD Format or Blu-Ray format.
What looks better? (considering the TV is supporting the format)
What is more expensive? Including the movies.
Are there any players that play both formats?
What would you recommend personally considering everything?
Just an information, Blu-ray overtook HD-DVD, so it's no biggie to go out and look for any HD-DVD discs since they're defeated back 2 years. So blu-ray is pretty much your only thing to go for.
Yeah Ratchet is right on that, they no longer produce HD-DVDs. If you want to buy a Blu-Ray player consider buying a PS3, it has Sony's best Blu-Ray player.
HD DVD is dead. The disks cost more to make than blu-ray disks and are less quality (720p Vs. 1080p). As a side note this also cost circuitcity $3 billion dollars which put it under. Just pick up a used/refurb PS3 on ebay for $200.

2. BluRay, have you ever seen avatar in BluRay? it looks truly amazing and i couldnt stop marveling over how good it looks
3.HD DVD if i remember right
4.like said above, a PS3 will read just about anything
5.definately BluRay, its easier to get ahold of, easier to find players for, and such high quality graphics it will make you cry. a majority of bluray movies also are encoded to DTS audio i think which is way better than Dolby
Thank you everybody, its been a great help!
Yeah, it was a great disappointment for HD-DVD to die. I was pretty sure they would do fine compared to $$$ Sony Blu-Ray format but they gave up without a fight.
