I cannot decide between getting either a HD6990 or 2 HD6970's

Here's the 6990.

And here are the two 6970's

I really just want what will perform the best, but I just can't come to a conclusion myself.
Thank you for the help :D

Stock, the clockspeeds on the 6990 are a little slower than what's on a 6970, but obviously, it can be raised. Since there's so few differences, I'd probably go for the 6990 simply for needing only one PCIe slot.

2 6970's in crossfire will outperform a single 6990, and is less expensive.

If money is not an issue and you're just wanting the fastest gpu setup, then 2 GTX580's in SLI is still King.

6990, a dual-GPU card is always a better investment than going CF right off the bat.

Razear, that's right now that I think about it. I'm going for the 6990, maybe later I'll get another, if it's even needed ha :p

To be honest, at 1920x1080 you don't need a HD6990 or 2x HD6970s. A single HD6970, or if you want to spend a bit more a GTX580 will do fine. However it's your money so I won't stop you :)

Gaming PC: i7 930@4Ghz, Noctua NH-U12P SE2, ASUS P6X58D-E, 2x Sapphire 2GB HD6970s in Crossfire, 12GB 1600Mhz G.Skill Ripjaws, 160GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD, 3x Samsung 1TB F3, 1x Samsung 2TB F4, Corsair 650D, Corsair AX-850.

That's pretty overkill for that resolution. If you want to go crossfire, save a bit of cash and just get 2x 6950 2GB's..even that's overkill for just 1080.

Or to save yourself a bit more cash, just get 2x 6870 2GB's. Those are MORE than enough for any game at 1080, crossfire scaling is amazing.

GTX 580SLI vs 6970CF

Look at the load in Furmark (full system stress), also GTX 580's in SLI dont make a $200 difference in performance over the 6970's in CF. They may be a bit more powerful, but not enough to warrant the extra cost in dual card configuration unles you have money you're begging to waste.
