Hello guys, I'm a newbie here at 3dGameMan forums and this is my first post. I need some advice with upgrading my desktop, I've been using my rig for almost 2years now and its still in good shape. I've finally decided to upgrade hoping to maximize its performance and make it reach its full potential;

Here is my current setup

CPU: Intel Dual Core E5400 2.70Ghz
RAM: Kingston 4GB PC2-6400
STORAGE: Seagate 250GB SATA 8MB 7200RPM
GPU: Inno3D 8400GS 512mb
PSU: Powerlogic 550W
CHASSIS: Powerlogic S92

And here is what I plan for Upgrades:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33GHz
RAM: Kingston 4GB PC2-6400
STORAGE: Seagate 250GB SATA 8MB 7200RPM
1.0TB WDigital Green 64mb
GPU: Inno3D GT240 DDR2
PSU: Cooler Master GX Series 650W
CHASSIS: CoolerMaster USP 100

I mainly use my desktop for Photoshop and some 3D modeling and rendering with Autodesk Maya, and Zbrush.I really want to speedup my workflow (especially on rendering), I want to know your opinion. Thanks in advance for yout valuable input(s).

depending on your budget i would go for a i7 2600k with a h67 or z68 motherboard and use the iGPU and get atleast 8 gb ran
as for the PSU the CM GX series i would avoid get a XFX Pro 450W Core Edition or something

my advice:
CPU:Intel Core i7 2600K
RAM:Corsair Vengeance LP 8GB DDR3-1600 CL9 kit
HDD:Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB(get rid od the old one pls)
GPU: iGPU Intel HD3000
PSU: XFX Pro 450W Core Edition
Case;tastebut look for one with a good airflow(read some reviews)

upgrading to a C2Q i would NOT! do, save more money i buy a something you really need if you want to see some real improvement in speed.
(tip: next time say how much your willing to spend..thx)

Good look :D
