i just got Far Cry 3 and i noticed i can barely run medium settings in the game...
what i want to know is how can i boost performance (hardware change(new one)).
i got:
http://us.msi.com/product/vga/R6770-MD1GD5.html#?div=Specification
and i would like to know what is causing the low FPS? would it be the memory?
or is it speed issues? i can handle higher texture but when it comes to shadows the game
start bombing in FPS count.(down to 20 or less) also would someone reccomend a card
that would handle Far Cry 3 on max settings?(looking for under 100$ ^^)
Your card isn't a total slug, but isn't going to be a top-dollar performer either. What is the config of the system? Processor, memory and speed, etc., as this would make it easier to help you figure it out.
um....
the processor is a
fx4100 at 3.6 ghz
8gb of ram ddr3 1333 mhz
windows 7 64 bit pro(i think)
i dont think its any of those ^^ the processor does not exceed 75% usage and the ram can only go up to 1866 mhz(2k OC) and i believe it should just be the graphics....if youve played FarCry 3 you can tell its a very graphics intensive game so im more or less asking what should i be looking for in if i upgraded my card.
(also should i go with SLI in this case?(sli/crossfire))
You're missing one of the most important pieces of the picture - what resolution are you gaming at?
i run at (for monitor) 1440x900 and occasionally i duplicate it to show on tv(same res)
which i need to ask....would that cause lower FPS?(if it does would it do it even if the TV is powered off?)
I do recall going from an old AM2 system to a 1366 system with the same 7900 GTO. I went from < 10 FPS to > 30 FPS in Assassin's Creed. It was a surprising jump.
HD 6770 @ 1680 x 1050 w/ a 3960x:

Based on the reviews of Far Cry 3, the CPU seems to have a major impact on overall FPS. This is probably due to FC3's use of physics. However, a GPU upgrade would still yield a better performance increase.

If you're replicating the game onto another display, it's going to be more taxing on the card. The 6770 isn't very beefy, but should be sufficient for your resolution if you keep it to a single display. You'll need an upgrade for duplicating the game onto a secondary display.
Desktop duplication should not render a DirectX game on a secondary monitor. I do not believe that is the problem. My 2nd monitor goes black when I game (2nd monitor goes black because I have AERO running, with it off, the Desktop is still showing).
