Hi,

I am currently running a HD4890 on a Asus P6T deluxe-v2. This board has only PCIe 2.0 slots.

I want to upgrade my card but I don't want to spend a lot of money on a card that will be bottlenecked by the interface.

What is the best new gen card with the best performance (bang for the buck) on a PCIe 2.0 board. Any recomendations?

I am currently thinking about the HD7950. Will this be a overkill for a 2.0 slot? Am I better off with a cheaper HD7850?

Thanks,

it does'nt matter what PCIe slot you use if it's 2.0 or 3.0 it wont have a performance drop so just get the 7950

The bandwidth between PCIe 2 and 3 is significant, but there isn't a card on the market that will see much in the way of improvements. The GPU is the bottleneck, not the slot.
