Hi everywone , the title says it all , im planning to use that board with a q6600 (and make some OC) and 4Gb ram and mabye later add another graphics card , my question here is dose it worth to upgrade my motherboard or keep the money and buy later on a new motherboard with a beter cpu .
What would justify the purchase of a new motherboard? If you have one already with the Q6600 don't bother.
It is important to know what mobo you have now?
For example I upgraded a P43 to a P45 because any increasing of FSB over 420 on P43 have as result a great freaking BSOD. With P45 no problems at all!
Now i have a old motherboard a gigabyte g31m-es2l and i can't pass 3.2ghz OC on my q6600 , and that is not the only problem i have with this mb , so is worth it?
BTW, are you romanian? , im asking because i saw the photo with Vlad Tepes.
yeah totally worth it... can't pass 340 FSB on my G41 board and now 450 on P43 ;) (4.05ghz Q6600-SLACR)
3,2ghz on that small mobo is a good result, but if you really want more, that P5Q Premium is a great choice, but even like that, don't expect more than 3,6-3,8ghz because Q6600 is like 2 CPUs in 1, so the heat could be a issue.
PS, Yes, I am Romanian, but now I live in Canada as permanent resident.
Nice to see another romanian guy on this forum , and ye 3.6Ghz is my target for this cpu , but not necessary the OC potential makes me to buy that MB , i want to buy it more for the crossfire support , and im not really sure if 3.2 Ghz is the maximum OC on this board , last time when i tried to pass 3.2ghz i had less fans in the case , i had only 1 optional which was pulling hot air from the case now i added 2 more , but anyway now i know that MB is a lot better than my actual one ,and i ordered it today and i'll have it tomorow . Thanks for help to everyone.
PS Mersi de ajutor.
