If you're on a budget, the AMD setup. If you want the best, go with the Intel.

choose the x6, I got the i7 950, its a little harder to OC if you don't have the right cooling. with oc the x6 blows the i7 950 outta the water and beats the it in almost everything. It runs cooler and I think more energy efficient, cheaper too.

The intel is probably better. For a better bang for buck, get the AMD setup. It depends on your budget.

just wait some 2 more moths than decide because liano will be out, bulldozer and maybe some Intel cpu's will get a price cut by then. it would also be stopid to buy a new mobo now that hasn't got any upgrade path ahead of it, AM3 is almost dead. 5serie intel mobo is dead. so go for sb 6 serie.if you have the money.
i'm dooing the same atm i'm waiting till liano and buldozer comes out before I decide.

As was said, Intel leads the pack in pure speed, but AMD still offers more bang for the buck, relatively.

AMD, however, especially with the Black Edition, is FAR FAR easier to overclock, and tend to be far more heat friendly in doing so. I'm running an Athlon X2 (not Athlon II) Brisbane 6000+, stock speed of 3.1Ghz, at 4.0Ghz on the stock fan. That's 30% overclock, on a VIA chipset! Well beyond what I would ever have expected, and the chips have only improved since.

However, if you want killer with no work, Intel is the way to go.

I'd probably go with an Intel Core i7-2600K because the performance is out of this world, but any choice is still a good one.
