I've always thought Dead Space was pretty scary. I can't wait for Dead Space 2.

Fear 2 has awesome graphics and it's REALLY scary in some spots.. Such as the part where you're in the school and all the lockers are flying open. If you haven't played it you should check it out!

Yes, FEAR 2 was one of the most recent horror games I've played and the scary parts are usually when you enter the washroom and open the door to find a dead body drenching with blood.

Also the first alien vs predator was scary :)

Many of the Silent Hill games were scary for me. F.E.A.R. 1 was pretty scary, but I haven't played the second one. Also, Dead Space was a pretty good chill, especially if you only used the single shot cutter that you start off with.

Currently, F.E.A.R 1 is the most scary game I've play, though I haven't finish it as its too scary. I'm going to try Dead Space and F.E.A.R 2 soon.

FEAR 2 is pretty darn scary and so are the others at some points. In fact I'm playing it right now because steam has it on sale for 19.99.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/16450/

BioShock is also scary... 20$ creepy.. angles.. ;)

http://store.steampowered.com/app/7670/

Dead Space 30$... shocking thriller.

And if you have not played the old Half-Life games give those a try. :)

I sleep fine at night knowing we are banning people who deserve it.  Tivon

Hmmm, i don't  think there is any good game which could get the shit out of your pants, however there are some games which can give you extreme eerie feeling while playing them.

1)STALKER SERIES

2)DEAD SPACE

3)SHELLSHOCK 2

4)FEAR(1ST PART)

5)LEFT4DEAD SERIES

6)SILENT HILL SERIES

7)Alien vs predator

8)DOOM 3

9)SAW

10)ALONE IN THE DARK 5

Really? I don't think that STALKER was scary at all. Even that wierd monster that takes control of your movements wasn't that scary.

All it needs is good configuration(system) and excellent speakers, you'll get lotsa breathstopping moments.....

As far i know(my personal experience) STALKER is the best.

(Maybe never understood how to play it and left it after an hour or two)

This is what happened with me in the beginning i got confused and was not able to understand it ....later tried and tried and understood the gameplay.

Sound kills you with high setting!!! amazing game.

Graphically it isn't one of the best game in the market but environment is enough to shock you or scare you.

Note:- and dont forget it was 2007's most atmospheric game.(winner)(Even after not being the most graphically beautiful game)[S.T.A.L.K.E.R-Shadow of chernobyl]

It was a great game, don't get me wrong. I played it non-stop from beginning to the end because it was so much fun. It was one of the few FPS / RPG games that actually worked. I just never really got any jumps or goosebumps from the game. The atmosphere was a bit creepy but what really turned me off was the enemy movements and animations, they weren't that good to be honest.

I agree to that fact graphically it isn't that good, (east-european technical limitations)

if you'll compare it with any american or uk made game.

It's a good game and being an ukrainian game it give you excellent gameplay.

Creepyness is an essential element for a game to be scary, and if you felt that then it did its work and tryout other installments as well dont forget to try call of pripyat and to get frightened what do you think a mutant or ghost should jump out of your monitor lol :D

If it wasnt scary for you then i dont think any other game can frighten you(thrill)

All other game are equivalent to this one....maybe doom 3 could get little sweat out of you, (because of all that noise and dark environment)

But remember both the games are entirely different from each other.

Stalker series has some scarey moments, as does Doom 3.

It's funny, but Mirrors Edge scared me more on PS3 with a big hdtv because I'm a little afraid of heights!

Hmm.... fear 2 isnt scary, at times it gives you a little spook but not scary at all, graphically it's better than the first part and a.i is quite intelligent, but it isn't scary like the first one.

Thou, i had good gameplay with 2nd installment.

clive barkers undying was scary back in the day...

Fear 1 was scary. I havnt played the second one yet but i bought it ages ago lol...

No one mentioned Diablo series? They are eerie games. The 3rd one will be amazing but it wont be scary. It doesnt have that feel or effect on me while watching some videos or looking at screens.

I couldn't agree more. Playing through Call of Pripyat at the moment (big fan of the series, locked myself in the house for a week playing the first game) and I found it to just be an eerie game in general. And not just the mutants jumping you or the russeling of bushes but even just the ominent green glow of the anamolies and such at night time just add to the effect entirely

Doom 3 or FEAR. I got scared one time when I turned off my lights and tuned up the volume a lot higher to make it sound really scary. Eeek!
