hey thanks for popping in

i am not if you guys herd of Tribes Ascend i been playing it for quite a while and totally forgot about my 3dgameman buddies ;) as you may know this game is a new addition to the tribes series but it is a new "game" it's not a complete rip right from tribes 2 but it does have a lot of the features from it, the lovely chaps that brought this game back are non other then Hi-Rez Studios known for there other title global agenda

i for one think that this game is pretty darn good keeping the tribes experience tho more elder tribes players will disagree that this is a nice addition to the tribes series i think change is for the better some times

you can grab a beta key from there facebook page > http://www.facebook.com/tribesascend?sk=app_126443417467788

see you on the field and happy hunting :)

The reason tribes veterans don't like it is because it's a typical online type mmo game, which cannot be modded and they're basically left to only have the choice to play basic mode gameplay. A huge part of Tribes success (not only by being amazingly fun and outside the box type playstyle) was the modding and mods made for it. There was an endless amount of things you could do in Renegades and Annihilation mods (amongst other mods, there were alot of really great mods!), a huge mount of deployables, infinite way to setup base defenses, you totally filled your roles in those games to the extreme. You could set down laser turrets, them reinforce them with forcefields or blastwalls, even grab a pitchfork and drag the FF and Blastwalls down into walls to make them even more resilient. To effeciently break into a base, you basically had to reverse engineer their defenses or go heavy with a particle beam and blast it away...just really cool kinda gameplay.

Basically, the community picked up the game, filled it out and just made it amazing with depth. Hi-Rez took the usually newer approach and just locked it all down so they can sell future content, so basically what you see is what you get until they decide to release something to the game, not necessarily what the community wants. That's whats wrong with games today and I disagree with it immensely as all it does is discourage modding and innovation. So what Ascend is now, could be infinite times better after a community got together and made it something truly special, like what they did with Tribes 1 and tribes 2.

Unfortunately, it's highly unlikely...more or less, not gonna happen. There was another game that suffered the same fate, Fallen Empire: Legions supposedly made by some of the same makers of Tribes. Trust me, there's nothing in the world (gaming wise) I want more than a true Starsiege: Tribes brought back with a thriving community, it was by far one of my favorite games and played it exclusively for years. Some people prefered the Quake gameplay, I prefered the Tribes gameplay.
