I have just signed up so hello everyone, however I have watched 3dgameman videos for years just never signed up :(
I am after some advice on building a new computer for battlefield 3, my current choice of hardware is the following;
Asus P8P67 PRO
Asus GeForce GTX 560
Corsair Obsidian 650D
OCZ Vertex 3 60GB
Corsair HX 750W
Corsair Vengeance 8GB
Corsair Hydro H60
Western Digital Caviar Black 750GB
My bugget is around £1200-£1400 but I'd also like to include a screen, I have a pretty old/poor 20" lcd at the moment.
anyway the dilemma I think I'm having is I'm not sure if I should hold off buying the gfx card for the nvidia 800 series closer to xmas, if thats the case then should I swap the p67 for a z68 and use the onboard gfx untill the new nvidia cards arrive?
I dont get to spend much money on computers very often so it needs to be as "future proof" as I can make it (my gf wont let me spend money on computers very often) :)
I would like to have it built minus the GFX card before battlefield 3 open beta arrives.
the shop I will most likley buy from will be http://www.overclockers.co.uk/index.php
Any advice will be helpfull but would appretiate an explaination for suggestions aswell as I like to learn from others :)
Sorry if this is in the wrong section I cant seem to get into the "hardware section"
Thanks in advance
It would be a long wait and playing with onboard video sucks. Just get whatever you can now.
I would wait until end of summer. Usually prices go down after just before the school year starts. New products come out. BF3 comes out Oct 25th so keep that in mind.
As for monitor, my picks are ASUS or Hanns.G I got my brother a hanns.G and my girlfriend an ASUS and both blow away my HP w2207h and mine is pretty damn good!
Thanks for the replys, I'm not planning on buying the parts just yet I will hold off untill late sep early oct.
which hanns.g and asus do you have d3us2029?
is the p67 and z68 the same performance? I know about the extra features of the z68.
I found out that a sandy bridge-e will be out soon? do we know anything about that? or should I still be getting the 2600k?
sorry if I'm being very vague but like I said in my original post I have to make this PC last :(
Thanks again for the reply's
Not sure how long a PC is going to last with the upcoming games and engines in the making. But i built my PC 26 months aga and its still running strong and so far it seems that no game will make my PC struggle.... YET! Keep that in mind. You go with cheap parts to save yourself money now and you will end up wanting more power within a year. For a couple of hundred extra you will be more then satisfied with performance and longevity.
The ASUS monitor was this one http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236079
and the Hanns.G is not around anymore but it is VERY similar to this one http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824254055
maybe this is a 2nd revision or something.
Make sure your monitor you buy is 1080P so you can watch some blu-ray movies when you can get the extra $$ to buy a player. my gf bought me a lite-on blu-ray burner for just over $100 and it permorms/plays flawless
Your rig is pretty much what i'm building now!
I went for the ASUS P8P67 DELUXE, it wasn't that much more > http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus-p8p67-deluxe-rev3-intel-p67-s1155-pci-e-x16-ddr3-2200-%28oc%29-sata-6gb-s-sata-raid
