You might talk to Ed Johnson (bejohnson) about that. He had some very nice Canon lenses last I saw. He might be able to give you some tips on what to get. :)

I tried taking a picture of the moon before but all I got was this tiny little dot :(

The trick I find with shooting the moon, is to use a small aperture and not to use to slow of shutter speed.
You have to remember, it is reflective of the sun, so it is pure light that you are shooting.

Here are some moon shots I did.

Exposure time 1/200 @ 400mm @ f14 (Nikon D50)

1/25 @ 400mm @ f10 (Nikon D200)

Here was an example I did for a friend, wondering on zoom amount.

A scene from last Saturday morning (7/28) about 4:30am. A good reason to always have a camera close by.

It had just started absolutely pouring down rain. I was trying to get the picture without getting my car interior ruined. The picture would have been better, but the police were keeping everyone fairly far away. Still, I did get a shot of the scene.

I wonder what was going through the jumper's head. Just when he thinks things couldn't get any worse, here comes a flood and he gets soaked. :Nope

so did he jump, Im tired of seeing all these people that "jump" for attention, its like stop wasting time and do a back flip already >_<
I don't think so. There wasn't much point. He had been sitting there long enough for all those police to show up and block off the roadway below him. It was just a 25-30' drop to the asphalt. He might have broke some bones, but that would have probably been all.

I agree with you though. If they are acting like they want to kill themselves, let the first officer on the scene accommodate them and give them a push. (Or use the police dogs. It's awfully hard to hang on to a bridge with a dog snapping at your fingers.) That will keep the other jumpers from waiting so long to get things over with. If they want to jump, let them just walk up and jump! If they aren't sure, let them stay home until they are. :Thumb

Here are the coolest pictures I took in Costa Rica while I was gone from the 18th to 27th.

These aren't anything beautiful... Just cool and funny shots :)

The pictures were taken with my stepdad's Pentax *ist DL.

Enjoy :) Let me know what you think :Thumb

Good ones! I would crop out the wire and junk on the right from this one. The peak with the clouds looks great, but the other stuff distracts from it. The picture in the camera is just the starting point.

Nah, still very poor, but I'm getting there...

Here's another from last night that I didn't desaturate. This is the true color of the Moon last night. Still not as detailed as I would like though.

Thanks =D Yea, I tried to not get the head and wire in there, but its hard to zoom, focus and find your target while moving on a tracker at like 20-30MPH on a dirt road x_X

Did you do anything apart from cropping? It looks a lot brighter.

I will try to upload some Formula 1 pics later, whilst I was in Istanbul (Turkey)

They come in to the corners so fast, but brake within like 15 metres amazing!

Hello guys!

I just received a mail (not e-mail) from the annual international picture.com amateur photography contest telling me that I have won the First Prize with my waterdrop picture. They also send me a silver coin from the international library of photography. (Why didn't they send me cash :tantrum) Anyways, this is obviously a great honor for me and I just had to tell you guys. The are serveral first prizes though, so I'm not the only one. I think they did count in my age, since I don't think the picture actually deserved the prize. I hate the background. All of you who don't know the picture, I'll post it here:
