Here's my Windows desktop (HTPC):

Here's my Ubuntu desktop running Unity (11.04).

I do have a Linux desktop in my same computer as my Windows desktop (HTPC, with dual-boot configuration). My Linux desktop is useful for watching TV. The desktop looks similar to that of my netbook's but without the Unity shell (10.10) and different wallpaper.

I went with KDE of Kubuntu 11.04 Beta 1 for my HTPC, but for my netbook, I went with Kubuntu 11.04 Beta 1 with a look and feel of a Mac OS X, although I do prefer the search and launch as oppose to the KDE Kickoff launcher (when you klick in the K button in either the top or bottom left corner of the screen, depending on where you place the Kickoff menu launcher.

Here's my desktop. This is shwon in a 50" screen.

I have a slideshow set to change wallpaper every 30 minutes, making my desktop look very fresh and beautiful, even though I have finally settled in with my desktop. In other words, I feel very comfortable with it once the word "beauty" and "awesomeness" wears off. LOL!

Well, here are the two most used devices. My Android phones, Nokia tablet, other desktops and laptops, well, none of them are very pretty.

Added: Hey, that auto image shrink feature works nice! No more resizing for me, just make sure the JPEG crunch keeps it under a meg.

Simple BG, only OC related tools on desktop, I really hate having a lot of icons here and there.

I know how you feel. I get O.C.D. about my icons too. When I don't have three solid rows it drives me absolutely nuts.
I like the background though.

For me, I like having no icons in my desktop as I want to make my desktop wallpaper shine, which integrates very well with applications that make use of Aero Glass, like Firefox and Windows Media Player 11 (too bad Windows Media Player 12 in Windows 7 does not fit my taste at all).

Now in KDE in Kubuntu, if only Search and Launch activity have transparent icons which I found myself contradicting. That goes hand in hand with transparent panels (Glasser/Auro-G themes) but when I do music creation, the desktop effects get disabled and my panels get turned black. I guess I'll need to upgrade my AMD Athlon II X2 4050e to a faster AM3-based CPU in my ECS A780GM-A Ultra, perhaps I can go with a quad core CPU with a TDP no higher than 65w.

Icons... HA! I'm OCD, but as you can see I also have a bad habit of NOT CREATING A FOLDER FOR A PROJECT and leaving the garbage on the desktop until I FREAK OUT AND CLEAN UP!!! LOL!!!
