Hi my name Joél, I've took a shine to PC since my family got the IBM Apteiva back in 1997. The sparkle in my eye to the noise it made for its 10 minute bootup made me think it was a rocket and figuring out its complicated software just to play Diablo, Starcraft, Unreal Tournament and Star Wars dark forces surely got me hooked.
I didn't really get into hardware until recently, in 2008 my teacher demanded that I do homework, tests and read the book online. I didn't understand it nor did I afford to have a new computer or internet. But since I failed the class I insisted that I needed one and built one $700 based on the advice of a friend.
I didn't like the feel of Duo Core, so I sold it to my brother and upgraded to i7 920 and than been a hardcore enthusiast since than. I build several computers since than and hope to create more in different variation. I'm very curious about having a portable powerful Micro ATX build.
I've watched Rodney ever since I started building and consider it the best second opinion.
i started with a computer of 700MHz. i believe it was a pentium im not quite sure but i loved to have my own computer but it was just so darn slow. it played Quake 2 and Unreal Tournament 2004 and thats when i started to get hooked on games.
i built my first gaming computer around '06 with a 1.8GHz Athlon 3000 and an Nvidia 7600GS. then i started playing Quake 4, Battlefield 2, 2142, and CoD4.
then i started workin for some money (i was only 15 then) and started ordering more parts. now i have a 2.7GHz Athlon X2 7750 with a 5770 and two LCDs. now im starting to live the life, i got my two liter of coca cola at my side that im single handing while im playing MW2 and im loving playing with my clan |F.U.N|
but im still wanting new parts, i feel im being held back somewhere and i have narrowed it down to my 750a SLI motherboard so im going to replace that with a 790XT. later on i plan to have a phenom.
im also helping a buddy of mine build his own computer with some of the latest and greatest while not busting any wallets. heres the progress on that: havent gotten anywhere too far yet but were movin fast
well thats my computer life, my other life (haha no i dont really have two) involves hangin out with friends and this past 4th of july i went to my grandpa's off road camp where we drive 4 wheelers all day, enjoy the BBQ, swim in the lake and watch 7 grand worth of fireworks go off into the sky.
Great thread !!! I will introduce my self this weekend.
My real name is Nick, and I've been building for a LONG TIME. My first true PC (excluding Apple machines, Commadore, and more) was a VIC20-based XT clone at 12Mhz, with a whole whopping 1Mb of memory (though with the 8-bit bus the DOS HIMEM could not load and I had to hack DOS to allow higher memory usage), a 256Kb VGA card on an 8-bit ISA socket driving a Sony Trinitron 15" color CRT, and a mono SoundBlaster v1. And, yes, it was a GAMING SYSTEM.
Things have improved since then!
I spent several years in IT support, network administration and design, and retail support and sales.
I know manage a McDonald's franchise-owned location and do PC work and photography on the side.
im just gonna bump this back up to the top because i love threads like this and i hate to see it get shoved to the bottom of the list
I definitely want to keep this forum active so I try to think of as many good ideas as I can. Only depending on how interesting the ideas are and how opt people are to sharing in that will make things work.
But I think showing off your computer is a great idea, so technically you can RE-INTRODUCE yourself with every new computer or upgrade you make on your computer. Since essentially our computer is a part of ourself.
My name is Jared. I don't actually do anything here but for some reason I have moderators powers. I will pretend to like everyone and then secretly plot their demise. I currently own a meat packing plant and love watching the movie green fried tomatoes. My hobbies include burning small animals alive and helping old ladies fall into the middle of the street. All right then, enough about me lets hear more about you. JUST KIDDING! lol
Yeah, I think I might have to reintroduce myself.
I'm back out of the other forum and I' glad to say that I will try to hang out here more often. Got something very big to announce, but that's it for my introduction. :P
Hey guys, I have to thank El_gato For introducing me to the sight. I hope to learn more on hardware and software. Cant wait to post more in the future.
I am pretty stoked about the idea exchange going on in here. It is always easier to figure things out when you can learn from other people's failures and successes. I am excited to start digging through here and have lots of questions and feedback to add of my own.
I wanted to post some pics of my PC, but the guy up there with the nice fancy shiny rig just killed my enthusiasm :)xixix.Anyway, my name is Arthur...i am one of this European nightmares that micro&soft has.I am kind a gamer kind a pc builder and a bit software enthusiast(sounds sweet ain`t it). Well i`ve been around...since... my first pc i bought...back in `86.Now get educated! - it was Pravetz 8 - never heard of it? - it was good 1mhz processor cm 630(6502),48kb memory - there were no hard drives,so the guy up there with the 700Mhz processor... cheers!I have no idea how many pcs i had, i remember my first game i`ve played tho karateka and moon patrol....it was scream back at the time. People now don`t realize how fast pcs evolved and i see people bitchin about getting 460 or 6850 ?!!!WTF. I just love computers i have no love for laptops tho...kind a make me feel... outdated.I don`t care in what kind of case my hardware is,i hate flashy desktops.I read all the time about pcs learning all the time new things.I thing the Rodney is a cool guy and keeps me in touch with the new hardware, sometimes he gets a bit annoying with the ads..but i guess he needs the money so he can keep us well informed !
I am happy for all the people enjoying using, building, ocing and tweaking pcs! Some of them one day will improve our world, some of them are pain in the as*!
If life is not perfect - do something about it.
