Apparently the new theme fixed the glitch I was talking about earlier, where I had to click the back button tree times to go back one page. Now I just click it once and I go back one page. I don't know how it was fixed but it's an improvement on my side.

Why not go to one of the Forum Hosting companies, which might provide a very familiar feel but with custom accents? such as PHPBB, Invision, etc.

Could avoid a whole lot of extra work, perhaps.

There should be a lot of updates tonight and throughout this week. The goal is to have a completely finished site ASAP.

@dustyschaffner/Everybody : Chrome issues should be resolved.

@Jared : Good to hear our caching is learning to behave. ;)

@DeusEx : Yeah, I broke that, lol. It should be back Wed. night.

Hopefully Zach will get a mountain of stuff completed this evening. By weeks end I'm hoping most of the major stuff will be finished. Hang in there folks, we are getting close to the finish line!

This website is definitely taking longer than expected.

Loyal 3DGamers will stick around but old ones or recent ones will probably died out cause of the glitches.

I see a lot of overlapping in Google Chrome, specially home page.

My question to Rodney is:

Was the really a need for this new redesign?
The old one was good enough...I really liked it.

What do you want to achieve in this forum eventually Rodney?

Don't get me wrong...changes are good but this was a major redesign.

Good luck with it.
I will always be a loyal 3DGameMan visitor!

cvasquez, I'm aware of the issues and I've also had enough of it. That's way the push is on to get the site and forum completed ASAP. Hopefully once finished it will bring back some of those who have left and bring in many more new members. Sorry again for the inconvenience all this has caused and thank you for your patience.

cvasquez,

Well, a total redesign was not really necessary I guess, but at the start of this endeavor it wasn't supposed to take nearly this long to complete. This project was started with high hopes of improving the overall site and it was supposed to be finished long ago. Although, due to some unforeseen issues it has tremendously pushed ahead the completion date.

We at 3dGameMan know that if this site remains in an unfinished, unsatisfactory state it will drive away visitors and possibly sponsors. So this is why I'm pushing hard to get this done ASAP. Although, we don't want it to be a rush job either. Trying to maintain this balance and get it up soon is not going to be easy. But it will get done, count on it.

In time I think many of you will be okay with all of this once it's finished. The real issue for the change was that we ran into problem with the old software and database. Most of our custom stuff was hard to implement with each patch. We sort of got locked into what we had and from behind the scenes it was work overload just to make the smallest of changes. At the very end the site was constantly crashing. In short there was some corrupted code someplace and when the bots finally scanned whatever it was the site would spiral out of control and crash hard. At the time we already had an idea to use a new style of website that would be far more advanced. This one allows us to change things on the fly without breaking other stuff. It's also a learning system so it builds with our needs over time. So in short did I like the old forums better, yes! If we get everything back to normal with this stuff will I like it, yes! So far there has been far less spam, that is something VBulletin always had a problem with.

I still don't understand why you'd even consider going with a Forum that doesn't have as many features as the previous one.

It seems that there are just a few really mainstream forum programs, and choosing anything but those would seem to not make sense.

I hope you get things fixed, but I still think the whole Main Site and Forum Site revamp was questionable in the first place, especially since you want to maintain a constant level of approachability and visitor traffic. The grass isn't always greener.

Seems like the WRONG decisions were made, sadly.

Wonder how many months, if ever, we'll get the same number of features we had before. It's like NBC and the Jay/Conan thing - it's almost too surreal.

I do wish you all luck, but I wonder how much better it might end up if you just went back to what worked before...

Someone may have already asked this but I couldn't find it scanning through previous posts:

Are we going to have profile options like avatar and signature options?

Yes, you can got to http://www.3dgameman.com/user and click on the Edit tab. This will be all re-vamped over the next couple days to be easier to user along with a user navigation menu to be implemented shortly.

Thanks. Will we eventually get more space than 4 lines? How many characters is that by the way?

@Warmacblu : You mean for your signature? We prefer that you keep them short... 8)

I have to admit that the signatures where a pain in my ass before. Was tired of shrinking them down or telling people to make them smaller ect.. We need some signatures to make it feel more like home, but there should be limits.

What about having some sort of signature backbone to follow. I cannot remember which forum does it but everyone's signature is the same except for the fact that they edit which pieces of hardware they are using.

Other than that though, everything is great. The style is easy on the eyes and I am so happy for a "new posts" link.

Hmm Blue/overall theme looks fine to me.

My major complaint is that the bar at the top either needs to be smaller or not scroll with top of screen. It is taking on my 6:5 monitor maybe 15% of the page and on the 16:9 10%.

Also the back button is not working in IE but does in chrome for me.

Zach was doing lots of behind the scenes site stuff last night, so visually there's not a lot to show for it. We are still moving ahead though and many of the things you folks have mentioned will be resolved or implemented if we believe they are sound.
