@sherretz
Have you tried just running the .exe file off of a thumb drive? I do this on the computers at my high school because I hate I-explorer. The computers at school are completely locked down but you can still run the .exe file from a thumb drive and get any program to run on the system. Since its on the thumb drive, there is no need to install it on the computer's harddrive.
We are not allowed to connect any USB thumb drives to our systems.

Also, Zach, the new layout does TONS towards making this play nice in IE6. Thanks for all the hard work!
Yeah, the new layout is really nice! Absolutely love the way the logo blends in on top!!
I can't find a way to properly edit mt signature. Also you can't click people's names to see their profile or PM them. Seems like a downgrade from the old forum I remember.
As far as visuals go...
On the home page the search is too close to the links for support etc
The backgrounds for the pages are meaningless and just add clutter. Do I really want to see some guy with a funny looking rifle to the right of the forum? Am I meant to believe that this is some premier source for tactical gaming? The good old solid blue held up better.
Now back to the home page, half the thing is taken up by banner ads. So all the headlines end up being crammed in there and cut off.
I bloody hate the dialog that pops up whenever I click a link. Yes - I understand I'm going to a different website and that you didn't write the internet.
The integration of all the features works out nicely though, despite the apparent loss of a PM box or way User CP. I do like the quick reply box and edit interface...kinda. The editing should happen without launching me back the "home" page with half of it being taken up by ads and everything below looking like a screen saver.
Navigation is sort of lacking. When I'm viewing a topic I have no link that I can click to return to the sub forum and to return to the main page I have to click forum all the way at the top navigation.
Yeah, I agree with StylesCD. I shrug at the dialbox that leads me to a website outside of 3GM. Could you add an option to turn off the dialog box for logged-in members of this website?
Also, the website will need to have sitemaps for navigating back to the previous webpage. My recommendation is to add "You are here:" as a heading and then dynamically construct a list of where you're at. And display the heading and list as an inline element, which will then look like this:
You're here: -> Home -> Forum -> Off-topic Comments -> Beta Forum Comments/Suggestions
You can change the list-style-image to an arrow.
I thought I could help. :)
@ StylesCD & GraysonPeddie
Yup, all of those concerns are getting addressed. The features you see missing are actually getting overhauled including the breadcrumbs (the link back area at the top you are missing) ;)
For instance, the ability to click on a user's name etc. Instead of just going to a "forum member page" you'll be going to a profile page that has their posts as expected, but it will also feature a place where they have their systems spec'ed out, picture galleries, blogs etc. Some of these features will be contributing member limited but everybody will have a much better experience than just a forum post page for example.
Also for those concerned, PMs and such are all coming back ;)
Styles, go to www.3dgameman.com/user and then click on edit. Signature is half way down...
It feels so slow to me when I scroll the screen.
At home or at work?
Alright thanks for the reply Admin..also nice avatar :D
It's only slow when I'm in the thread itself like right in here. Both Home and Work. Using FF 3.6.12.
It's really odd.. now at work I can scroll the center of this page with the wheel mouse fine, but the very top and the very bottom are slow.
its freat.!
Updtae: it turns out I'm actually using IE7 here at work. So while not ideal, it's not super bad either. Except that it's IE but w/e.
Good to see the speed issue fixed.
However, moving between subforums is very unintuitive. There is nothing to tell me which subforum I am in, and no link to direct me or show me to the parent forum/subforum.
And editing a post sends the forum styling back to the previous layout...
Glad to see this forum is at least going back in the right direction, albeit slowly.
The main forum page looks like the original one which ran on Vb with the black theme instead of the blue. However just what Sal said, the titles that tells us which thread and subforum we're in doesn't show up.
Still a loooooooong way to go.

I did a safe mode and defaulted Firefox settings. Now the ends of this page are fast but the center area is still a little sluggish.
Scripts in FF4b7 crash ff on forum pages
WOW... Can it be?? I can finally say the site looks awesome!! I love it. Got the new page layout first thing this morning. I thought i went to the wrong web page by accident for a split second :P
Now if only the forum will be fixed..
Yeah great job on the front page...it no longer looks like tom's hardware.
I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before in this thread but it's a little big and I can't find a search function, which leads me to my question:
I'm missing some regular forum functions like a user control panel or some other page where I could see/change my details, and also in-forum buttons to flag posts, search the forums, send PMs.
I like the simplistic layout, but after a few months of being active here I never found such options. I feel kind of stupid for asking this since I have read about people sending PMs and also many users have an avatar and/or signature, but I can't find how or where to do this. Are these options going to appear some time or am I missing some significant feature about this forum?
PMs have not been added yet, but you can add avatars and signatures from your users screen when you first login.
Here is your users link.. Hit the Edit tab.

Ah that was kind of what I was looking for, thanks :)
I have a suggestion. I think its a pretty good one.
With Blackberries being one of the 3 popular types of Smart-phones, Can we have an area when were can put down our BBM pin #? There is one for MSN, Yahoo and even ICQ which is pretty much gone. BBM should fit in nicely.
What do you think?
I have been unable to log into my 455olds account for a long time. If I request new password,I never receive the email.
I have sent you an email from a non-3GM account. Reply with the 455olds account. ;)
Thanks,I won't lose my password this time.
No problem.. Fixed your Signature image and added you to the Spam Whitelist. ;)
Nice layout much better then when we first began using it.
My suggestion is the following.
PPPPllleeease 'MY POSTS' more easily reachable like the previous original forum.
Too many steps to get to it.
Thank You
//Carlo
Been awhile for me but the site is progressing nicely :)
Just wanted to let people know that the view counts have not been working for a long while now. Zach is working on it. Didn't want anyone to think people are not viewing your posts because they are. :)
