bejohnson, +4294967295 (32-bit int). Totally epic pic.

@zeek, what's the point of an archive forum without any ability to search it?

EDIT: Oh, right. Rodney wants us to use the Google search widget so he can earn more money.

EDIT2: I managed to login to the old forums and vBulletin search works, but PMs are disabled. I'd like to download a txt archive of my ~1000 PMs.

Main site works better with 3.6 Firefox. The older version did not line up the search bar correctly.

I can no longer tell if people are posting in the news articles because the indicators are gone.

the main site news need to be fixed... they cut off half way through the article title and there is so much more space.

@DeusEx : Added "read more" links and such to help out ;) (titles are linkable as well) This is a very standard format across the internet.

@everybody : 1) Implementing new WYSIWYG editor for commenting etc. Should make life easier :) - 2) Added breadcrumbs, not perfect yet, but getting there :D

Nice work on the comment editor! Are you finished it with it? Or will you add emoticons, underlines, etc?

Yes, we'll be adding more controls as I balance features vs. permissions vs. usefullness-over-performance... ;)

btw: Smilies are gone temperarily as they get integrated into the WYSIWYG editor.

Hey guys, just joined back up after a quite long hiatus. Took me a while to figure out what is going on here, but it's nice to be back. I was G~Man on the old forum, couldn't get it to sign me up as that here. It would be great if one of the mods could add my old posts to my count!

I like the new forum, but not nearly as nice as the old one for me. Loved the old blue colors and also this seems to load really slow.

Were are the smilies?

Hope you guys get all the bugs out soon, and thanks for the hard work Rodney and all involved do here, it is appreciated!

Mike

FYI: Widescreen mode is being disabled because it causing issues for some when posting. It will return when issue has been resolved.

Wide screen was nice in the forums, but for the main page it's not needed IMHO.

I'm testing Minefield/3.7a3pre because Firefox 3.6 was feeling a little slow at times. I can't put my finger on it but something would freeze for a bit or take a while to respond.

I'm disappointed in Firefox. It seems like they are getting slower while adding features I could careless about. The Awesome bar I HATE and the Smooth bookmark Scrolling is not wanted at all! I might make a switch to Google Chrome because it's blistering fast and in many ways much more stable. If DivX and Firefox crash one more time I've had it!

I agree. If this is the less detailed forum board, we would never need any widescreen duties.

And about FF 3.6 being slower, I'm also experiencing that all the time either. Currently taking over this system with Teamviewer ^_^

I wish there was a "100%" wide option so that no matter what size you had your browser set to (above 800 wide) it would stretch to the end.

Fixed width smaller size is ok, but 100% works for anything larger.

HEY - how come signatures do not seem to show up on some of the comments that we make? Shouldn't they show up on ALL of the comments we make? That way we can see easily what configuration people are discussing in hardware threads, for instance?

Thanks

Signatures only show up on the first post only of any thread. It's an option to prevent signature spam.

Oh - bummer about them only showing up on the first post of any thread.

Guess that means we folks will have to hunt through pages and pages of threads to find it?

Wish there was a better way.  Maybe show them on their LAST post in a thread?  Or allow users to click on the Avatar or Login name to have their signatures (and maybe other stuff) show?

I dunno.  But it is a bummer that things work so differently than they used to. :(

No one deleted any deus ex 3 thread that I'm aware of. Make it again, I can't find it.

Zach needs to know about that kind of thing. I tracked your steps and found the new thread you made but it was not published. I published it and saved it for you. You should try making other threads and see if that keeps happening. I have options at the bottom on my first thread post that lets me control published or not, do you?

You may want to try to release your Dynamic IP (assuming you have dynamic) and try to renew so you get a newly issued one.

I have 2 routers (I bought a wireless one in addition to the wired-only one) and was told I would most-likely need a different MAC address in order to get a different IP address assigned.  It worked.

Before I got a new IP address issued, I could not post in threads where I already had an entry in a thread.  Dropping the old IP address and getting the new one and logging in right after seems to have fixed the problem.

Might be worth a try.

Good luck.

Sadly, I have to concur.  It's a mess.

phpBB  or IPB would have been a much better choice, especially if they had out-sourced the hosting of the forums.  It'd be a total turn-key operation, and you don't have to mess with all the complexities of trying to host the forums yourself.

I really miss the old setup and the old content.  I really do hope that somehow they can get this setup functional, as it appears there will be no effort towards that sort of turn-key setup.

How true especially when someone has sprayed the grass with Roundup ®.
